Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

My 16yo Female turtle hasn't lay one egg...and I thought it isn't too common.
Last year when I saw it acting very wild and crazy, constantly trying to climb out of the tank and begging for food...I thought she was ready...so I took her to the vet to make sure...and xrays shows nothing.
I asked the vet if I should prepare some sand so she won't be egg bound when it happens, but the vet said I shouldn't "encourage" it by creating that environment for her.

So I am not sure what I was suppose to do...and I actually don't even know HOW to set up a nest for her...isn't the sand going to be in the water if I put it on the basking spot? What kind of sand am I even suppose to get????

What do you guys think?

They don't always lay eggs. Considering how hard it is to get them to like a nesting area, consider yourself lucky.
