General Care Discussion :: weird, weird behavior

hello. i was observing dumbork last night. he seems active at first, but all of a sudden, he started "contemplating" on his ramp. he looks very very serious here. he was in this position for 4 minutes before he moved again. this is just after i fed him and he pooped.



he already made this position a few days ago, but only under a minute



another weird behavior is that he keeps "eating" the marbles in the corner filter:



should i be worried?

his tank has marbles in it, but they are in the trays --


he wasn't going after those in the yellow and green trays, he keeps snapping on the marbles inside the corner filter:




maybe he sees his reflection and thought it was another turt?
should i be concerned?

The posing and stretching - no worries that's quite normal. My turtle does it all the time. He's comfortable in the water and sticking his head up to breathe. turtle lounging.

The marbles... yeah shiny so either reflection or just the shine and he's probably curious or trying to play. The only concern here would be if he could fit one in his mouth - which it looks at this time that he cannot.

hahahah! thanks! made me late this morning becuase i watched him for an extra 30 minutes, making sure that he won't eat the ones lying around. are very weird.

Looks normal to me. Tobi does the same if anyone sticks a shiny ring against the glass. She'll bite at it like crazy. And your turt looks exactly like my girl hanging off her ramp like that

Like Veipa said keep an eye on the loose marbles. As he grows if any become smaller than his head remove them just in case.

I have a African side neck turtle named Toby. He likes playing withh his reflection. Like swimming around or walking around the one side with my dresser mirror behind it. (i have a 50 gallon tank on my huge dresser with a mirror behind it.) he also does the "turtle lounging", except he sticks his head above the water and floats with his shell beneath the water.

hahaha. quick question, do they know that it's their reflection, or do they think of the image as other turtles?
