On and off I talk to my turtles. I generally tell them why I forgot to feed them, why I brush their shell at times, and why I don't give into begging turtles. When my sister is sad she cries in front of the tank. In the end we all talk to our beloved pets. Do any of you guys talk to your turtles?

Yes, I talk to Koopa when I go by his tank. My husband just teases him without talking though. He's trained Koopa to come to the top of the tank when he snaps his fingers, but poor Koopa thinks he's going to get food each time (which is probably the only reason he performs on command ;))

I sing to mine in the morning before I get them out to feed them. I also talk to them and tell them to have a good day when I put them back. If I go by their tank and sing they think it is time to eat !!

I talk to mine like I would talk to a child. When they bite, I calmly ask them why and tell them it wasn't nice..lol. I say goodmorning and goodnight to them too. Generally I don't do this in front of people tho

I talk to mine a lot, scold them when their being naughty, and even yell at them when they continue to not "listen" to me. (Good thing their hearing isn't the best. :))

I also talk to mine, I tell them good morning, when I leave for work I tell them bye, when I come home I say hello, and say goodnight. Now Steven talks to them a lot more. But he tells them that he loves them more than I do so they will like him better. lol He tells our dog the same thing. Are we all crazy people or what? lol

Yeah, marisa has a point, turtles are kind of better as pets. Turtles don't bark, hiss (exept if you taunt them to), or cock-a-doodle-doo. Believe me, I once had a rooster and a chicken, and by a month one neighbor was complaining of the noise. With turtles nobody minds, no heartbreaks for me, no complaints from neighbors- everybody happy :D . Sure I talk to my turtles, but I don't yell to them because they don't listen. Bet marisa's turtles are like, "What's her problem?", when she yells at them. But anyway it's kind of hilarious when my sister cries in front of the tank.

hehe i'm glad lots of people talk to their turtles... i talk to all my pets. but i think leo responds to my talking though he probably thinks he's going to get fed every time i come up to look at him. regardless, i talk and sing to him all the time... haha boy i feel dumb saying that but its fun to see how he reacts to pitches and inflections. also, he is ok around me but doesn't like many other people so i think talking helps him know its me. i never call him leo though, it just comes out baby. so he probably thinks his name is baby... although i must admit i kinda hope he turns out to be a she so i can change the name to elphaba! :D or leigha, because thats a girly version of leo. however... i've been considering changing his name anyways. i just picked leonardo because he was my favorite ninja turtle. i know you aren't supposed to change it... but...it's cliche... and he's still very little. if anyone has read the book wicked by gregory maguire, you'll recognize these names :) it's my favorite book, and so i kinda want to change my turtle's name to Turtle Heart. ok, dumbface name for a turtle, yes. but, the character by that name in the book is such a beautiful character, plus the people he came from were commonly called either turtles or frogs (deragatory, yes, but altogether wonderfully misunderstood). and if my turtle turns out to be a girl, well elphaba is perfect because she had green skin. i'm sure its obvious that i have been writing papers all week and have kicked my narrative mind off it's butt. and thus is born another term paper on whether or not i sing to my turtle.
aaaand the conclusion of my novel... i converse with my turtle as well.

Yes, I talk to all my water pets a little bit each day. With Sheba (RES), it has paid off and she comes when I call her! I take her out of the tank, call her, and she follows me into the kitchen, where I have another bowl of water that I feed her in.

I just mainly tell my pets that they are "good kids" and that I am glad that they live with me so it isn't like I talk to them for hours or anything. I have a fish, frog, & RES.
