Are turtles nocturnal animals? How do turtles sleep? I think my turtles just close their eyes, but I'm not sure.. One of my turtles, Bubbles, just lays on the platform, with 2 of his legs inside the shell, sometimes closing his eyes. Is this bad, or is he just sleeping?

RES are not nocturnal--they're active during the day and sleep at night like humans. They may appear to be sleeping while basking, but a healthy turtle will be aware of his surroundings and react if movement is nearby.

How long have you had Bubbles? Is Bubbles active in the water? Does Bubbles eat? If Bubbles doesn't want to go in the water or eat and only wants to lie on the basking area, it sounds like something is wrong. Does Bubbles have any other symptoms like open-mouth breathing, swollen eyes, frequent yawning, for example? If so, it sounds as if Bubbles may have a respiratory problem... Can you give a more detailed description of how Bubbles is acting?

I have had Bubbles since yesterday, April 16. Bubbles is very active in the water, but he sometimes goes into the water. Yes, Bubbles does eat. his eyes aren't swollen, he doesnt yawn, and he doesn't breah open-mouthed. Yesterday he was moving in and out of the water. He moves frequently on the platform and climbs the wall.
Blubbli on the other hand, usually stays in the water, but he does go on the platform sometimes. When he's in the water, he likes to stick his head out of the water and swim around.
Please help~ Thank you!

I'm not sure what you want help with...what specific problem are you asking for help with? From what you wrote, there doesn't seem to really be a problem...
