General Care Discussion :: Turtle not growing?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I have had my turtle turtle since March 2013. I first measured him July 2013 with a wooden ruler and he was 5.5 inches. I measured him today and he was still 5.5 inches. So in the past year I'm pretty sure he hasn't grown at all. Is something wrong? Can it be possible for a male RES to be 5.5 inches fully grown?

Your turtle is likely still growing. But, as they get older/larger, the growth rate really drops. At 5.5", your turtle is at adult size--not large adult size, but an adult.

I bet it's still growing, just much more slowly now--to the point where you may not notice the change in four months.
