I finally have pics. I am trying this for the first time, so hope it works!

These are pics of my RES Sheba walking around my house. I let her out as much as I can and she just wanders around & around. Her shell is very shiny so the white spots in the one photograph are just her shell reflecting the flash.

::cheers!::

She's very colorful. That looks like a small tank for a full grown female RES or maybe it's just the angle of the photo?

Nope, it's not just the photo; Sheba's tank IS small for her (50 gal). She has lived in this tank for over 11 yrs. & it's the main reason I let her out a lot to walk around the house as much as I do. :oops:

Many yrs ago, my dad built the plexiglas "box" w/ramp so she could get out of the water. It's not shown in the photo, but it has a hinged door on top of it, so she doesn't climb out.

Sheba is a very good looking RES. :) Thanks for sharing.

Do you plan on upgrading her set-up soon? Minimum for a full-grown female RES is 100 gallon tank plus nesting area.

What is her length? She looks to be a good 10-11 inches. Our female RES is at 9 inches so I figure she still has some more growing to do.

At least at that size she isn't likely to get lost as easy as a hatchling. She certainly isn't going to fit in a shoe, lol.

Sheba looks like she's good at creating other kinds of havoc :twisted:

Thanks! She's my baby!

It probably won't be too soon, but I have been looking around at potential tank setups. I do plan to make her as comfortable as possible in the meantime.

Sheba's shell is 11 inches long & she hasn't grown in several years. Well, she has gotten a little fatter, but that's a different problem, LOL!

Well, she does fit in a "shoe" but it is a very large red plush cat-toy shoe (made for kittens) that I bought for her & she likes to climb in it & sleep/hide.

And yes, she has created quite a bit of havoc since I have gotten her (she's such a little stinker sometimes....I have to turtle-proof my floor!).

When I first laid eyes on her in the pet store, she was 6" long, swimming in this lovely rock waterfall pool & stuffing a goldfish in her mouth (the goldfish was bigger than her mouth!). I walked by later again, and this time she swam over to where I was standing & just looked up at me! She was very sweet right from the start & I was hooked. I think there was a very gentle person who cared for her before I got her.

We have had many good years of being roommates. I couldn't imagine anyone else caring for her.

She is such a pretty adult turtle! I can't wait for ours to get that big. Thanks for sharing!
