just wondering, but does it? our 2 baby res are around only 1 inch X 1 inch. but we dont know when they were born. so we're astill trying to firgure out about how old they are.

first off, when you measure a turtle you only measure its shell from the head end to the tail end (not including head and tail). You also dont include the curve of the shell in the measuring. Most likely if they are 1 inch long, they were just born a week or 2 ago.
Try to be like the turtle -- at ease in your own shell.

While size does tend to go with age, it is not a good way to tell the age of a turtle. Living environment and genetics also play a part in the size and growth of a turtle. If a turtle is kept in conditions that are not warm enough he might not grow as fast as he should, and the opposite for conditions too warm. The ideal growth for RES is an inch a year, although it may be a bit more that first year. My guess would be that they aren't very old, less than 3 months, but it's just a guess.
