Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

My basking site temp is at 90 degrees F. Is that aprox. hot enough. I have a 40 Watt light bulb and a 27 Watt UVA/B bulb on the medium sized basking dock by zoo med. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A basking temp around 88-90 is good. Just make sure the water temp is 72-75 for older turtles, 78 for hatchlings. Is your turtle basking good?

How close is that 40-watt light bulb to the turtle to get the basking area to 90F? If it's really close, make sure your turtle can't touch it/burn himself on it.

If your turtle is basking at that temp, that's fine. If he seems to be going up but quickly coming down or hanging in the water and looking at the light but not going on the basking area, you may want to adjust the temp to make it a bit lower.
