i am pretty sure he is a male. At are loal pet store there about 5 inches.

If i got bored with him and found a female could i let them breed?

As you can see its outside so we could make a place for eggs but would it be safe becuse it right next to a driveway.

Upgrading to a larger tank would be nice...I'm sure he'd love it!

As for breeding, I say no. There are to many res as it is. So many people are getting them and have no clue what kind of responsibility it takes to raise an RES. Are you prepared to care for even more RES should they not find homes?

Keep in mind that captive turtles can lay up to 8 eggs at a time. Would you be able to house that many turtles? For hatchlings, that would be equal to 80 gallons. After a year, you'd need at least 250 gallons. Something to think about.
My babies: Tanner (RES), MR. Prissy & Ringo (budgies), Shinju (cockatiel)

I dont think that you should breed your male turt with a female just because you are "bored" with him. Three questions you should ask yourself: Do I have enough room for another (female) turt if they dont get along? Also do I have have enough room for 8 more little turts? If not do you have good homes for them to go? I think there are enough unwanted RES already, dont add to that number just because you are "bored".
