General Care Discussion :: basking dock dryness

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I keep reading on here and in literature that the turtle needs to be able to get completely dry on his/her dock. Mine floats on the water stablized by suction cups, I think Zoomed? The bottom stays wet because of all the pits and craters, is that ok?

Is it just the water that is coming off your turtles? Mine bring a certain amount of water on to their basking dock, but it stays in the crevices that you mentioned. Unless the weight of your turtle is pushing it underwater, then it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks missibsu, that's what's happening then. He's not submerging the dock, just dripping water on it and it stays in the crevices.

When our turtle gets up on her basking area, you'll see water underneath her as she gradually dries off. That's normal. :)

After reading many of the posts throughout this site, I realized I was keeping his uva light too far away and it wasn't thoroughly drying out his dock, or him for that matter. Lesson learned. And I fixed it, now it's completely dry and area is 88, water 78. Thanks everyone!
