Can your turtle still retract back into his shell easily? If not may be getting fed too much. What are you feeding Yoshi? Are you just feeding pellets? I would add a variety of food to his diet.

i_love_yoshi, please answer some of the questions posted. Also, can you tell us what is its size (shell length) now and what it was before?

I feed it 3-5 pellets before i go to school and the same amount when i come home from school. Yoshi can still go all the way back into his shell. It was 2 inches long when i bought it and know it's 3 inches long. I called the place where i bought it and the guy told me that as long as it kept eating he guessed it was okay. Do you think i should take Yoshi to the vet? Could it really be that serious?

It doesn't sound serious, though I would carefully monitor the growth rate. Are you sure no one is giving the turtle extra food or snacks? It happens way more than you think...

Checked with a thermometer? Both the water and basking area temp are the same? If the water is 78F, the basking area should be about 10 degrees higher. If there's no real difference, he won't get out of the water to bask.
