I just bought a tank for my 3 baby turltes and have it setup nicley.

I have a very good filter setup and they even have a place to sun themselves on a rock. I put the tank next to one of my windows, were the sun shines in everyday from 10am to 2pm, so they have plenty of time to catch some rays.

My next question is, what temputure should the water be. The temputure reads anywhere from 23C in the morning and evening to 27C in the afternoon.

Is this to warm or to cold?

Please advise.

I believe that their temp should be about 25-26C. I'm not too good with converting to celsius.

The temp in F' is anywhere from 76 to 79, is that the correct temp for them? Or is it to hot or cold?

How big are your turtles? I would say that the temp should be between 74 -76 degrees F. Warmer temperatures are recommended only if the turtle is sick. (The warmer water helps boost their immune system.)

Hi salesguy, if you have a small turtles then you probably have them in small tank - meaning they are in a small amount of water. Keeping them by the window is extremely dangerous. You are exposing them to extreme temperature changes. An open window will leave them susceptible to respiratory infections.

For hatchlings, water temps of 26 C is OK, and the basking area should be around 32 C.

get a basking light as well as a UVB light instead for basking. Putting the tank next to the window is useless when it comes to basking because the glass filters the rays. even with the windows opened, the screen filters the rays too.
