General Care Discussion :: Is she sick?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I have never seen her stretched her neck, something wrong? Being Unable to stick out her head probably contributes to her not eating. When she is in water, she can't even raise her head out of water, so she stays on the island all the time. I took her to see a vet, but he didnt seem to knowledgeable about this turtle, he said the turtle looked fine, at least nothing wrong with the look, so I took her home. But I still feel uncomfortable with her listlessness, and especially the neck. I haven't see her eating, but the 2 pellets were smashed and missing some part....

Did you see a herp vet? If you weren't happy with the vet that you saw, then I would see a second opinion. There is a list of herp vets by state in the Urgent Care Section...check the stickies.

Does she swim and come out of her shell when you aren't around?

What is the set up like? Size, water temp, basking temp, etc.

yes I will find a better doctor.
she never wants to swim, whenever I put her in the water she struggles to climb up the dock. I have never seen her neck out of the shell, and have never seen her open her mouth.
I have a 10 gallon tank, half of a tank water, a turtle dock, one full spectrum light, one UVB light, a water warmer set at 78-80 degrees, a Whisper filter......
