Looks nice but a 30 gallon tank is way too small of space for 4 turtles and that small gravel is not a good idea. Hopefully they haven't eaten any of it yet.

thanks, there about 3 to 4 inches big. but when they get larger, im planning of putting them on a pond. i have the gravel for about 2 years now and so far theres no problem. but i keep seeing one of them chewing it and spitting them out.

Just be careful about having gravel in there. You won't see what they are doing 24 hours a day, and if they look like they are eating/spitting it out, I can guarantee that some of the gravel is getting swallowed. A small pebble can get impacted in their intestines and cause death.

Even after you remove the gravel, you will find that sometimes gravel will just "appear" in the tank. It's because it is finally finding it's way out of their systems!

Wow I have gravel in my turtle tank too. The guy who sold my RES to me 8 months ago, was no help AT ALL!!! Ahh I feel so bad. I guess when I clean their tank tonight I wont put the gravel back in this time.

Yeah, that gravel is bad news. I've read some really sad posts on here from people who's turtles ate gravel with fatal results.

How bad would it be to put those shiny blue marble like rocks in the bottom? would they end up eating that too if the got big enough...or would the they not like the shinyness?

Those are bad because they are usually glass, which can crack or they are the kind with all those artificial coloring which seeps out.

Well has anyone everhad problems with the glass on the bottom of the aquarium cracking with those big rocks?

I have large river rocks and so long as you don't stack them, the most your turtle will do is push them around, i think the danger of cracking would come from a rock falling, that would have much more force than simply sliding them along the bottom....
