I was out of the regular stuff I use to dechlorinate the water so I got this stuff (I can't find Repti-safe around here) to set up the tank, and starting yesterday, I noticed Big Daddy was rubbing his face and eyes. I didn't think much of it.
Then this morning when I went to feed them (Big Daddy is always at the glass in the AM, waiting for the greens) I noticed he was sitting inside the pipe with his eyes swollen shut! I reached in and pulled him out and he managed to get them open slightly (little slits). When I put some eye drops on him, his eyes opened immediately, and he looked around as if to say, "Ah, that's better". Then I checked Beaker, and he bit me, so I knew he was OK, but I didn't like the way Gomez looked, eyes were sorta puffy. (I may be reading too much into this).
At any rate, I ran out and found a pet store that had basic declorinator, and spent the morning draining the tank while the kids sat in a 35 gal. "Iso tank" I'm setting up for just this sort of thing. I tossed in a couple crickets and frozen blood worms to keep them busy, all ate, including Big Daddy, with eyes wide open.....
It took me about 2 1/2 hours to shake everything out, drain and replace the water, and I was amazed at how much he improved in that short period of time. His eyes are still puffy, but nothing like they were just a couple hours ago. Gonna keep an eye on him, and give him the drops for a few more days, but I'm definitely tossing that conditioner......
I only used 2ml. per 5 gals., measured with a pipette, so I know I didn't use too much.
