General Care Discussion :: Turtle has stuff on him...

I just got my RES 2 weeks ago and he now has this stringy stuff on him, not on the shell, but aroun the legs and head. Is this normal and how can i get rid of it? Also i have a Penn-Plax Cascade 400 filter is this a good enough filter it seems to do the job. Please reply ASAP thank you.

Ok thx i though it was algae growth on him. What about the filter?

What you need to do with regards to the filter is see what it's rated for fish. If it's for a 20 gallon fish tank, then it's not good enough for a 10 gallon turtle tank. You'd need something rated for 2-3 times bigger than what size fish tank it would be used for.. 3x is definitely better especially in the cheaper brand filters.

What size tank do you have?
