I am just too worried that my clamp lamp will fall into the water and burn my turtles, everything is tight but I am concerned that the clamp will loosen up and fall into the water. Please help.

I use oven racks on some of my tanks like so;


You'll want to have something (not small screening, glass or plastic) between the lamp and the water

By the way, if the lamp falls in, it won't burn your turtles. It'll explode and send an electric current thru the water, effectively electrocuting them.

I have seen people with screen covers with added holes, but that won't work? I was told, I think, that glass blocks the light.

I used a screen at one point and cut a hole in it just big enough for the lamp to fit. Came home to find one of the res on top of the screen so it didn't really work for me. Glass, plastic and small screening will block uvb

Sorry, I misunderstood, I thought you suggested glass or plastic. Anyway, it's fine for now and I am keeping an eye on it. It is not really lose or anything, just me being overprotective. Anyway, for the first time they have a lot of water to swim in and they are loving it!

My one turtle keeps swimming to get its head out of the water, I think. I have the dock and he was on it, so I think he knows what he is doing. Anyone with similar situations?

I have a metal thing (originally off of a cabinet), it has diamond shape holes in it. I was going to use hardware cloth but this will work for now.

Which is why it's a good idea to use a GFCI outlet with your devices. It's won't prevent the bulb from breaking, but it will cut off the power.
