For the last hour or so (I haven't been keeping time.) one of my RES have been swimming to the bottom of the tank and then swimming back up repeadidly.

I can't keep up with all of the new people, so before I say something I shouldn't, refresh me on how big your turtles are and what their set up is like...

That being said. Mine do that occassionally, although I haven't noticed it having anything to do with the basking light. Usually mine do it right after I have cleaned their tank.

For older females, trying to climb out of the tank can be a sign of needing to lay eggs...that's why I asked the size of your turtle.

They're both hatchlings alittle bigger than a quarter. One is bigger than the other.

Sounds like they are just checking things out & playing around. Nothing to be concerned about.

You just got their attention when you turned on the lamp.

Couldn't it be sign that the turtle is annoyed at something in the tank? Like a waterfall filter? I have heard of them swimming back and forth, also.

nah usually they cower in a corner in that case. My RESs constantly use the flow from their whisper filter as a sort of treadmill. I think they conciously exercise.
From the homegrowers soul, straight to his lungs. That's the method that I myself find fun. Start from seed and then you'll see, just how fun homegrowing can be.
