you have a waterfall filter I assume than? I had a problem with Leo going under the filter and it really started to scare me because he's growing bigger every day it seems and that spot seemed to be getting smaller and smaller- but I have an under the water filter so I just pushed it down to the bottom so now he has no place to even try to fit! You may have some plants now but i have about 5 of those plants grey goose showed you in all different sizes... and I don't think there's anything Leo loves more! We have a zoomed floating dock- like many others on here- and Leo liked to do acrobats through the bars (figure 8's even... over and over again) and I got really worried that he'd eventually get to big to fit through the bars and end up stuck- as soon as I put the plants in there- I haven't seen any acrobatics outta him!

well the filter problem got taken care of pretty quickly (there's a couple pix here). i just stuck some rocks under the filter like grey goose suggested. she got upset about the rocks being there, i think she hissed! i even have a cute picture of her trying to move the rocks, but i think she decided it wasn't worth her while. the heater got moved up so she can't get stuck under it, but i still don't want her hanging around it, i'm afraid she'll burn her little feet. i'll try setting it at an angle, then. hopefully that'll help.

Although turtles are by no means the brightest animals on the planet, I doubt your turtle will keep touching the heater until her paw is burned. If it's made out of glass I'd be more worried of it getting broken from a bump from the turtle. Some commercial heater guards are available, but a simple, cost-effective one can be build with PVC pipe. This prevents the heater from breaking OR your turtle from somehow burning herself.

it's not that i think she's dumb, i am just afraid she'll wind up hitting a really hot part of the heater and her foot only needs to be on it for a second to cause injury.

I've used the Tronic heater guards even with Stealths and I'm using one with a 400-watt Hydor (one and a half, actually---the heater is too long for one guard, so I bought two and used part of one to lengthen it). If the Neptune isn't really thick, it would probably fit into it---you'd have to check the length of the heater against the guard, though.

You could also make one from PVC pipe (drill holes).
