The reason im worried is because you're turtle is opening his mouth alot, that is why i think you should take him to the vet. Is there anyway that you can seperate them?

A vet visit for both shouldnt hurt, i would go with that. If you're turtle(s) does have a RI, the earlier you treat it the better.

Yes they can...Thats why you really need to heat the water up and keep close eyes on the "sick" one. If it gets ANY worse, you need a vet like yesterday..k? They may give antibiotics and ask that you seperate the turtles until the sick one is better.

Keep us posted on the activity of the wheezing turtle!

P.S. Just in case you dont know...really listen to the noise and when it does it. Mine makes a chirping noise at times and some other funky noise while she is basking. But she isnt sick. Some turts just make wierd noises...But you have to take anything seriously like this. Watch, look and listen. Keep a vets phone number handy!!

(OOOPS sorry I honed in on this, I didnt see the before posts before telling you to take your turt to the vet! DUH!)

i agree with who said you need to raise the water temp, put temps up to about 80. it'll need to be higher since little one's sick.

yes you do need more than one thermometer. you also have to check ambient temps and basking temps. you can get go to the local petstore or http://www.drsfostersmith.com to get some (just look for keyword ''thermometer")

the turtle shape block, is that a dr. turtle sulfa block? i put one in my tank like two weeks ago, i hope it isn't contributing to john's problems.

and yes, it is very much contagious. isolate them, do a complete water change. unless you plan on taking them both to the vet.

Yes, take out the little block, if it says "prevents fungal disease" then its crap. Clean water and a little bit of salt should be the only thing you're turtle needs to prevent fungal infections.

a little bit of salt? care to explain that a little bit, ive never heard that, thanks!

Freshwater aquarium salt (NOT TABLE SALT), carefully follow the directions on the box and add it into the tank. Alot of keepers use it, including me. It works great. The salt kills fungus, why do you think they suggest salt water baths when turtles have fungus? The salt isnt neccesary, but its nice to have in there.

I doubt that the sulfa block (AKA Dr. turtle block) is causing john's problems. The reason i told chibi_sephiroth to take it out is because a good number of people on this board think its crap, the reason why it is crap is because it doesnt realy work, fresh water salt is OK to use to prevent fungus.

i had a question about transporting the turtles.

oh ya and to let you all know the name of the squeakingish one his name is Squirtle and the other one is name Quinn i dont know for sure what sex they are XD but they are both about i think close to a year old and both are about the same size now 4 1/2 inches ill post some pics of them soon.
