My map turtle is found sleeping on his basking area (out of the water) during the night...will he get a cold this way?

Does he always sleep on it at night or does he just fall asleep there when basking while the lights were on?

He sleeps on it with the lights off (both the basking lamp and the house lights). I usually sleep late and when I peek at them, I realize he's been sleeping on the ramp.

Is he alert? Active? Does he wake up when you go near him? If no, then there might be something wrong.

my turt sleeps on his basking area.
but when ever i go close to him, he just wakes up and (sometimes)slides back into the water, my turt doesnt have any problems with it, just keep an eye on yours and see how it goes.
does your turt have anyother simptoms like not eating.
does s/he still go back in the water?
what is your waters temp?

22C is about 71-72F? I've got a little painted who will go through stretches of sleeping on the basking area, especially if he's been basking and the light's gone off. Sometime in the early morning he slides back into the water, I think to be warmer. You might cover part of the tank to keep the warmth provided by the water heater from escaping.
