And here is the lovely Lilly, also an African Sideneck (Pelusios Subniger)

The RES pics came out all blurry due to the fact I need a better macro lense for those little boogers...yes I am technologically challenged.

Very nice! I've been thinking about getting a sideneck or snakeneck eventually.

Gorgeous setup! Very clean and modern. the turtles must be quite happy. Did you construct that stand yourself?

Yes, I made the stand myself, with some help from iac637.

I got the idea from a tank lid, it looked like a platform for a smaller sized tank, and we thought it would be neat if you could sit right next to the tank to watch the turtles, instead of sitting on the floor, or hurting your back leaning over for hours watching them. Plus we lived on the second floor of an apartment, so I wanted to disburse the weight of the tank over a larger area. So I sat down and did the number crunching and VIOLA!

Wow that's a great idea, i was worrying about having a large tank as i live in a creaky old rowhome (no i'm not going to keep my turtle in the basement i like to look at him!), but the platform idea could assuage my concerns (and my landlords!). Beautiful setups and turtles!

Yeah our turtle really like their setups, and i really like the tank stand the nice thing is as well with it that we can get a bigger tank and it will still fit on that stand. Both won't fit but we could get one that is even bigger on there.

Nice tanks! How are your sidenecks with the basking? My New Gunnea a basker and a half but my African will not bask for anything, just wondering if it's the africans or not.

They like to float by the light and they also bask a good bit not as much as our RES though. How high do you have the basking temp and the water temp.???
