I need some ideas for turtle toys. I already put a small plastic fake tree,a little toy whale ect ect,but they dont seem interested in them much. I had a little barbie doll beach ball i put in my old turtles tank but i have no clue what happend to it. Got any ideas? Please post. Thanks, I will check it everyday for replies.

You have to make sure the toy isn't tozic in anyway or have dangerous metals on it. It also has to be big enough so it can't be swallowed...

I've heard of people using ping pong balls. I, personally, don't use any toys. I just give her a piece of lettuce and put it under the waterfall filter where the lettuce goes up and down and side-to side which is great fun for my turtle

well, what i do, sometimes, is i put the food for the the turtes in the cap and let it float around. They will nip at it and mess around. Eventually, mine are smart enough to lift up a claw and whack it over. other times, they push it asore and knock it over there where it rolls into the water. If, by toys you mean decorations....i love caves, and so do my fellers. one person had glass added to their tank but the glass was too low and the water came up over it. i told him to ad a few plants on the sides. then add rocks to the top to make it shady. now, the turts feel secure and you get to watch them be happy!

Turtles love to play with river rocks on the bottoms of their tanks. The males will pick out one to be a serrogate "girlfriend" and will flutter his paws at it and push it around for hours. Turtles like to hide and swim around in the fake plants in their aquariums. They like to play in the waterfalls created by their filters or in bubbles from a bubbler. If they are tiny they like to hide in a coffee cup or flower pot. Just be sure it's nothing they can get stuck in. The bigger ones like to have a bridge that they can swim under and scratch the tops of their shells on. I think it helps them shed.

mine love rocks...
i also put in seashells, a snake, a duckie and a frisbee. john likes the frisbee, aeryn likes the snake, the duckie doesn't get much attention =Þ

they mostly like playing in the plants, though :)

I have this plastic ball thats made for a cat, its bigger than a river rock, definetely cannot be swallowed or even chewed on, its not like stretchable plastic or anything like that, its a SOLID plastic ...hmm.... Im trying to describe the type of plastic... its almost like those plastic balls you get out of the gumball machines, but its thick and has no other pieces, is just one round solid plastic ball. She likes to push it around the tank sometimes, but then she gets bored with it, Ill take it out, and then a month later she will have fun with it for a couple hours and thats it. lol. :)

At the moment George has river rocks to push around and try to make them love him. He also has an air stone (or bubble thing) that he loves swimming through. Every now and then I put a guppy in his tank as a treat and he chases them for quite a while.

I have a stone-like dish, frog, and colleseum as well as a plant but I have heard that some people put little mirrors in their tanks.

Sheba eats everything, so I don't have any "toys" in her tank other than a few larger river rocks & this big plastic tree-root that she likes to hang out on.

Perhaps she confused the term "husband" for "shrimp".
