quick question. how often do you guy and gals have to put water in your tank. the water in my tank seems to evaporate quickly and i'm having to put more in every other day. not a big problem, but wondering if anyone else experiences this or what could cause it to go away so quickly.

When the water heater is being used it evaporates more quickly. I'll have to add about 40litres a week. When the heater is not used, I only have to add to it once a month.

I never have thought of that either! I just wake up some mornings and Im like "where did ALL the water go?!" I have to put 2 large pitchers in about every 3-4 days! (or less) Hmmmmm

The water will also evaporate more quickly when the air is dry (in the winter, for example) than when it's humid. I have to add much more water in the winter than in the summer.

I have to add 2 to 4 gallons a week to my 100 gallon tank.

i add about a gallon a day. it's not just the water heater, it's also the heatlamp.

When you all say you add water... Do you just dump in some tap water? Treated? Or left out over night, for the chlorine to evaporate? Just wanted to see how everyone does it!

Sometimes I put conditioner in which neutralizes the chlorine. Sometimes i don't. With about 60 to 70 gallons of water in the tank already, I figure a couple of gallons of untreated water won't hurt.

What kind of filter you have? I have a cascading one, and I thought that also contributes to the amount of water over time that is evaporated.

I keep 3-4 gallon sized bottles under the tank. I keep the lids off so the chlorine will break down, then I just add as needed.
