I don't have any turtles yet, but for the past few weeks I've been doing research on them to learn all I can before getting them.

I want to get an RES but also a Map turtle, however I don't know if they would get along or if it would be good to have them together.

Also, if I am able to get them both, I don't know which sexes would have less conflict.

I would appreciate any thoughts you may have on it. :)

Well, nomatter the sex, there's no guarantee they'll get along. Maps are more sensitive to water quality. If you get both, set them up separately. If you can't do that, just get one....trust me

Hm. Okay.

I have this thing that I just wouldn't want my turtle to be all alone, although I have read that they are solitary.

Being that it will be my first turtle I think it would be best to start off with just one, am I right?

Start with one - sounds like a good plan!

Absolutely! A lot of people here have said that if they had it to do over again, they'd just get one (myself included)
