If the bulb is not overheating the turtles at 12-13" then you should be all set. :) I've been using these bulbs for a few years now on my other reptiles and they are great. I think they make a huge difference in the health and well being of the sun-loving herps. I also like the idea that they last a lot longer than flourescent bulbs do, and their output stays pretty decent even after a year.

iac637, sometimes local pet stores will carry those bulbs but they are usually much too expensive. Our local PetCo had them once for $70! Camee, that's a great price for the T-Rex bulbs. I'll have to check out that website! Thanks! :D

Camee, I have that very same bulb and absolutely love it. Spot loves it too. It's 13" to 14" from him when he basks.

Wow that's a great online store. Nice prices. By the way, the $39 bulb is the ZooMed Powersun while the T-Rex Active UVHeat bulbs are like $42. I like the ZooMed bulbs but I've heard that studies have shown the T-Rex bulbs to be better, so I'm going to be trying those next. They've also got the Fluval 05 series filters for the best price around too. :D

Some petstores (like Petco) do sell them. But, you'll pay roughly double the price that you would for them than you would if you ordered on-line.

Camee & Spotsmama, my Sheba LOVES her MVB. She almost goes into a trance-like state when she sits under it for hours at a time/daily. MVB's are most definitely the BEST bulbs ever invented. :)
