one thing i'm also active in is domestic abuse awareness. while doing research one questionaire i came across asked the question ''does s/he harm small animals?"
the reason that's considered a red flag is because it shows a lack of empathy, and lack of remorse for causing harm. lack of either shows anti-social and psychotic tendencies, and yes, it does tend to evolve to something more serious. people in charge don't typically roll their eyes at it (though they don't prioritize it as highly as they should), so i wouldn't think she'll get off scott free. too easy, imo, but not free.
