It's totally ok to get rid of the eggs if your turtle lays them. It's not any worse than tossing out a chicken egg.

The thing that sucks is that you can't guarantee where your baby turtles will end up. They might end up with someone who loves them & raises them for 40 yrs. Or an abusive person with a bad attitude could buy them from the petstore & torture them. They are an inexpensive pet ($10-$20) so a lot of people will just buy another one when they die. It sucks, but it happens. Not like a pure-bred dog/cat that people will buy for thousands of dollars & care for it because it cost so much. A lot of people only care for stuff when they have to pay more for it.

There are so many red ear sliders in the world already, taking over in ponds where they are not native because people just "let them go in the wild" when they can't take care of them anymore.

I wouldn't breed them.
