Here are some pics I took a while ago of Tuga and never got a chance to post. He is about a quarter inch bigger already.

I also wanted to ask if anyone knew approximately how much time in actual sunlight would be equal to a day with a UVA/UVB light. I would rather take him/her out everyday while it's warm and just buy a new UV light come next winter. Just wanted to check because I think his shell is beginning to pyramid and wanted to make sure I was (or will be) giving him enough UV radiation. The cuttle bone helps with decreasing pyramiding too right? He has not been too interested in it.... Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks guys.

Ew gross. Please excuse the water. This was just before I got the filter for the new tank....

Another, attacking the piece of pellet.... Is that shell pyramiding there?

Image

Again, his shell looks like it is bad shape... (Also I know this is another picture of him eating, I swear I don't over feed him. He just looks cute when he eats) But help me heal his shell!! :!:

Ok I fixed it. I don't see pyramiding. The raised 'spine' is normal on younger turtles and will even out as he grows.

Adorable! I think pyramiding takes a while to show up, I certainly don't see any on Tuga now... so long as you're feeding him correctly ( a head-full of pellets every day and fresh veggies) you shouldn't run into any problems about pyramiding.
He looks good!

oh what a relief! Thanks so much guys~ I was wondering why he had such a pokey back... he looks like a dragon! Is there anything wrong around the edges of the scutes? The seems kind of crusty but that might be because he is growing and they are starting to get ready to fall off.

He's really cute! :D He looks really healthy to me. And he looks like he is very well fed too! :) Pyramiding happens when they get too much protein in their diet and that doesn't become a problem until they get bigger. As babies they need more protein anyway. The turtle pellets are usually well balanced and that's really good that he already eats lettuce. The outdoor play time is a good idea too since there's nothing better than natural sunlight. Just make sure to stay with him and allow him to get in the shade if he needs to cool off.
