It's probably nothing but was just curious and wanted to make sure. Is it normal for the uvb light to blink on and off a couple of times before turning on completely??

Some flourescent light fixtures will do that, especially the cheaper ones like ESU. Are your bulbs new or old?

That explains it then...that's exactly what I have, an ESU. It has a brand new bulb that I just got about a week ago. Thanks so much, DavidY, You're the best!

A few of my Reptisuns have done that. But never an ESU when I used them. Is the bulb screwed into the socket firmly?

I'm using the ESU fixture with a Reptisun bulb. Yes, it's screwed in firmly.

The tube fluorescents I've used have always blinked when first turned on. I've always used Reptisuns. Don't know what kind of fixture - several different ones over time.

Actually, regular fluorescent tubes like people use often blink, too. I think they do it more when they're about to burn out.
