Habitat - Indoor :: Creative Ideas For Basking Platforms?

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I have this awesome little island thing (to the left in the picture here: http://www.redearslider.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9507). I want to raise it up somehow to make it so the water can be deeper. HOWEVER I also want it to be aesthetically pleasing. Any ideas?

Eh, I would just go with buying a dock (15$, rough estimate), it will probably be less of a hassle than finding a way to raise that thing up. You can always build a basking area too, you just gotta be handy :)

The zoo med docks are a popular basking area that most of us use.. http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ct ... dockmedium

I was thinking using acrylic to hold down my 'natural basking spot'.. Let's say a long rock/wood. I'll have it hanging down from the top of my aquarium. Does that make sense?

I dont wanna use those floating ones now. I dont really trust those suction cups. I bet they'll suck sooner or later. If I do use it.. I should add more. I have extra from my Filstar xP3.

See, that way my original idea, but I was afraid it'd be kind of ugly.

You'd be amazed at how well the suction cups on the floating docks worked. I used them for years - progressively larger ones as my turtle grew - and never had a problem. Maybe once a year I'd get new suction cups as the old ones got flabby.

The docks come with four suction cups and all you really need is two. You should remove the underwater suction cups since them actually hold the dock on too tightly so the turtle can get stuck between it and the tank wall and drown.

If you want a different style ramp, here's a nice one. It's the one my turtle is using now and he likes it a lot:
