I know all of you answer alot of questions about shells but hey, whats one more right?? lol. Anyways I have my 2 hatchlings and one is getting some white patches on the middle of his shell and also looks like there could be some pyramiding. Should I be cutting back on the pellets. I feed each of them 2 pellets a day. (the amount that will fight inside their head if hallow, right?) and also feed them green leaf lettuce everyday or every other day. Thanks in advance!

The white down the spine? My RES, as a bit as well, toward the back of the shell. Cute baby.

Howdy! Beautiful turtle!!! Looks very healthy to me.

Just to clarify, are you feeding him the amount that would fit inside their hollow head twice a day.......or does the total amount of pellets you feed them a day equal what would fit inside their hollow head? Not sure that came out in a way that can be understood by anyone but me....lol. it's late.

anyway, if you were able to understand what I said, the second is what they should be getting.

Yes, the second one is what I feed them lol. I feed them each once a day, the amount that would fit in their head (not including neck) if it was hallow and green leaf lettuce or some romaine lettuce that they nibble on throughout the day. Thanks for the responses.

I see that little raised up part on the back of her shell that I think you were worried about, an my 2 inch turtle has that also, and I know she hasn't been overfed. When I got her a month or two ago she had been taken poor care of and barely ever ate at all. Must just be normal for younglings?

He looks good to me too! Feel free to throw in some lettuce every day so your baby can nibble. Or maybe some pond plant like anacharis. They love to shred it as well as eat it! Nothing like a turtle playing with the food, just like a human toddler! LOL! They can't get fat on lettuce, and the veggies will be good for their shell growth.

If he is already 2 inches long, you can feed him 3 reptomin foodsticks once per day. No need to feed pellets twice a day.
