Hi. I was just wondering if live aquatic plants are healthy for RES. (To eat and hide in)

really, any aquatic plant is fine. There are more, but I can't think of them right now. Mine love anacharis and hornwort. You can feed amazon sword and water lettuce but mine won't touch it. I hear amazon sword is actually bitter. Just experiment and see what they like.

Where do you buy your plants? There is a greenhouse not far from here that has quite a collection of water plants. I'd have to check and see if they have some of the ones listed.

I'm sure they'd work for an outdoor setup. I bet with greenhouse plants you would have to be careful for pesticides and bacteria.

Do Wal-Marts sell real aquatic plants? That's about as close as it gets from where I live. Herp places are quite a drive from here. Darn Kansas...

I get my plants at Petland. I know Petsmart carries some too.

I get mine at Garden Centers (is this what you mean by greenhouses?). If they specialize in aquatic gardens and perhaps sell koi, I wouldn't worry about pesticides. Why don't you ask them if they use anything on their aquatic plants? :)
