I will certainly do my best to get pictures of the baby boxies! It probably won't be until this weekend that I can get a mesh cover made for the nest, but I will definitelyhave one. We've been getting summer storms every afternoon/evening, so it's being kept pretty damp. If I cover the nest, will Lily be upset since she's still hanging around? I know turts aren't parental, but with her still being around I was wondering...

Thanks for clearing that up for me, marisa! It always seemed to me before Rigby grew that she shedded, so I just thought the two were connected.

I'm going to let them stay wild turts and go free when they hatch. I read an article today that when using the screening to cover the nest to make it big, like 2 feet by 2 feet with some brush and leaves inside, so if the turtles hatch under it while you're not around they can hide and be protected. Apparently the best time for the babies to get away from the nest is at night, so by morning they will have found a good hiding spot from predators. That's probably the route I'll try to go with.

Smoofish 168, I didn't mean to imply that shedding and growth weren't connected. You had said that because of the shedding you thought a grown spurt was on the way. I said that shedding did not mean that (a growth spurt to me is different from normal growth).

Try to get the mesh over the nest sooner rather than later. The eggs can be dug up and eaten surprisingly quickly if they're discovered.

OUTSTANDING PICS. Im surprised Rigby's claws are so short, have
you had them clipped? I would agree with Scripta, she's gotta be
bigger than 6".

Peace :D
