Aw, what a sweetie. I used a Fluval 2+ with my painteds where they were small hatchlings. It was horizontal on the bottom of the tank with the outlet aimed at the glass.

Wow, what a tiny little turtle! :D He's cute! I love your setup too. Very creative and looks like a fun place for the little guy to explore (sandy beach and everything). :D

Thanks all :) I'm going to pick up a small filter this week and do the on its side thing.

Sydney seems to be doing well, she's active and exploring her tank and this morning I fed her and she gobbled the food up right in front of me. I think this one is gonna be a little piggy!

I just saw a 3 stripe at the pet store. It is REALLY small. It does look like a cockroach... The pet store wanted 180,000 yen for it. (150us.. ish) Super cute though

Wow, I got mine for 20 euros (about $27 US) but I don't remember ever seeing them at a pet shop here, I got mine from a wonderful breeder here in Holland.

Ah your lucky. Since I am in Japan there is the strangest things. At the pet store that I go to they are a-typical. Not enough room.. bad lights... tortoises with serious pyramiding... I can go on but I won't. The one thing they do have is selection. I fell bad because they even have owls they are chained to a little perch and all. :(

I can't wait to go back to Canada and get my tortoise form a proper breeder. I can't in good conscious support the Japanese pet market anymore.

New piccies!!

Yesterday I was going by Sydney's enclosure and noticed her hanging out on top of her plant by the basking area. Of course, I had to take some pics.

Beware the cuteness!!

I love that last picture with her mouth open, so cute. But her eyes being so dark and her head being so dark for some reason seems creepy to me (Just in that third pic though).

Sydney is very cute, but I think your wee tortoise Sherman could give her a run for the cuteness award myself.

Sydney is really starting to feel at home and get comfortable with us. When I come around she comes to the glass and she's always sticking her head out and hoping to get fed. She eats from my hand already and she loves mealworms, tuna, reptomin (baby) and I've even seen her nibble at her cuttlebone and anacharis!

Here are some more baby pics :)
