I've had a Python for about 6 years, and love how it works. However, the tubing has gotten gross, so I decided to replace it when I saw a good deal on the Aqueon system. I just tried using it for the first time, and I can't figure it out! Two little gaskets fell out of the package, and there's no indication of where they go. The knobs on either end of the assembly don't turn without forcing - I finally got one moving a little easier, while the other just fell off. I got it back on but it still won't turn.

I'm reluctant to try running water through it if I'm just going to have to ship it back. Has anyone owned both an Aqueon and a Python, and if so, what do you recommend? Will I ultimately save myself annoyance by getting a new Python or figuring out how to replace the tubing, or should I stick it out with the Aqueon?

I have a 25' python and a 50' aqueon. I bought the aqueon when I put in a larger tank in the basement and the python wasn't large enough.

I definitely prefer the python. The knobs are difficult to turn, and the hose that connects to the sink came off once when I was refilling and sprayed water all over. The knobs only rotate one direction.

What parts are you trying to figure out. If I recall, one gasket is for the faucet adapter and the other for the valve that connects to the faucet adapter.

If the hoses are the same size, can you just switch tubes? It's pretty easy to replace with the Python. I just buy replacement tubes from the hardware store. Though tubes are not as good as the originals, they get the job done.
