I have a 20 gallon tank and it's filled up to about 4 inches from the top. At one time I had it lower and he seemed to like it ok but now that there's more water he kinda freaks out. He clenches on to everything and he would rather walk up the rocks to get air than to swim. Do you think he might have a respiratory problem?

Do you have some taller plants for him to rest on? He could just be tuckered out if he is small. Some signs to look for for RI would be lopsided swimming, and open mouth breathing.

Ya he has a plant that he rests on. He sits on a plant or hangs off the side of his rock mountain thingy with his nose out of the water.

It just might take him a bit to become used to more water if you've increased the level recently and it's appreciably higher than it was.
