Yep the bigger the tank the more the equipment cost to operate it!

Yea, it would be like a big reusable ice cube. Even then, it might only bring the temps down 1 or 2 degrees.

If the tank is in a room you can close off, what about a window ac unit? It will cost less than a chiller, but use more electricity.

A small window av isn't too pricey.

Yeah, that is a good thought. A Swamp Cooler window unit would be a nice cheap alternative to more expensive systems, and they take hardly any space. Only problem is, I don't personally like Swamp Coolers. I will end up getting a chiller if the temps get dangerous. Last year they didn't get too high. I live at 5000' so we get mild summers, compared to most the U.S. I just like the idea of a chiller because of the simplicity. If need be, I will just turn the A/C on.

We have A/C at the house which helps when my dad turns it on. The windows in my room won't work for a window A/C unit. It is a good thought though ljapa. What's a Swamp Cooler? Last summer was very hot by our standards so I'm hoping that that doesn't happen again. Today he basked as it was cool enough and the forecast is looking good for basking for a little while. The big reusable ice cube idea probably would help but if not I can do the night dry dock idea as well.

I appreciate all the help guys. Now I just have to wait for the weather to cooperate. lol

I thought a window A/C was a swamp cooler?

Since a window unit won't work... perhaps look into purchasing a Portable Air Conditioner.

I had to look it up, but a swamp cooler is quite different. It's pretty interesting since it uses much less power... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evaporative_cooler

As for a portable air conditioner... I had one and they are OK but not great. It will work, but not as well as a window unit.

Huh, I have always thought a swamp cooler was a window unit since it is mounted in a window!!!!

Haha, apparently I have a lot to learn about swamp coolers. Obviously, I've never had a window unit or a swamp cooler, lol. Thank goodness for central heat/air, it sure can be expensive to use tho. I just open the house windows in the summer for that nice mountain breeze, winter is a different story.
