Habitat - Indoor :: Basking area idea

Hi Guys,

Walking through the hardware store, i saw this, and thought they could make a cool idea for a Basking area...
The hooks would hold the thing up at the side of the tank, I would glue some grey gravel on both plates, and then attach cork on both sides to make 2 little ramps...



Another idea i thought of was to put this larger one in, and then put an acrylic or terracotta plate in it and fill it with sand...




What do you guys think ?

What's it made out of? I'd just be careful that it doesn't rust. Is it plastic or metal?

I think it'll rust too unless coated in something like Plastidip.
