Habitat - Indoor :: Stone basking area

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Post Posted: Sun Dec 08, 2013 6:00 pm   Stone basking area

I built a real fancy and expensive basking dock for the turtles in my big tank but they hardly ever use it.Well I got thinking what if they want something like a large rock like they would use in the wild? Well I put one in the tank today and guess what both my turtles are basking. Just thought I would share that.

Both of those are great! What did you use for the base?

For both just black plastic water pipe with fittings and stainless steel screws.

I would have chose the expensive one :) Water looks very clear, is there something agitating the water surface?

AH, MaxiJets are great. I use a 600 to drain my tank during changes.

Kansas that looks badass! Love your stock tank. For some reason even my turtles didnt like the expensive ATBA i built them. They like something partially submerged and easier i guess it makes them feel safer.

Thank you. I upgraded to a bigger rock in the center of the tank.

Looks great, love how the sand makes things pop in there.

Thanks. I really like the white sand also. Just added some feeder fish they can't catch so I might remove them. They have been in the tank for 2 weeks and i dont think any have been eaten. You can see one of my large goldfish on the left side. I have 4 of them and they can grow to 12". I feed the goldfish in the morning and they all come to me for breakfast. They also eat red leaf lettuce?

I don't think you need to remove them, unless you have a tank for them already. You can probably just let them eat some of the turtle pellets and whatever else is around.
