I used black spray paint on the outside. Its on glass so I suppose if you ever wanted to remove it you could.

What about Plastidip? It won't damage anything, but will take some time to remove.

How does the basking area look? Its not very busy, it just has their old basking platform, and some wood pieces, plus we put in the green carpet, which is two zilli terrarium mats. The back grounds are coming, is there anything else that should be up there?

Basking area looks good too. If your turtle is using it, then thats all that matters. :)

Both turtles are still very skittish, Mikey more so than Lea. Lea, goes up there whenever it get quiet, but runs at the the slightest hint of people. Mikey, he only goes up when its quiet for a long while. But both have been observed using it. I may drop the temp in the tank to 75 to encourage them to bask more?

Awesome news though, we were having issues with hard water stains. I custom made the covers out of the 1/2" acrylic, its heavy no way the turts can get out, so I can fill the water up more and the hard water is above the frame and not visable. The covers also control the evaporation so the water doesn't evaporate so fast.

Could you add something to cover the sides of the basking area?

It may be a bit late since you ordered background. You can paint the glass tank with regular spray paint and get it off later with acetone but you will have to be careful because that also melt silicone. Plasti-dip is easily removed by apply some heat.

Love the tank size can't wait to see what the finish product will look like.
