I have found a 50 gallon tank on Craig's for 25 but before I look into it I wanted to see if you far more knowledgeable turtle owners would think my 406 would be good enough for it assuming it's des to hold water
Yep, that's just right. A turtle filter should be rated for a tank 2-3 times the enclosure you're using. The 406 is rated for up to 100 gallons, so it would do well on a 50 gallon tank.
