Here is an oddball question... Is there any problem with putting a 6 inch crayfish in with my 5 inch turtle? Believe it or not, we found a crayfish in our swimming pool a few days back. How it got there is anyone's guess since we are miles away from any form of fresh water. Not knowing what to do with it or wanting to kill it, we placed it in the tank with Abby. the turtle tried to take a few snaps at the crayfish, but I think she discovered it was best not to try such a stunt. Bottom line... should I get rid of the crayfish?

If you wait too long to decide, you might not have a choice. I bought a crayfish that was at least 7 or 8 inches and put it in my res tank. Both res are 5 or 6 inches. Poor thing lasted maybe 20 min. He only lasted that long because he had a hiding spot that the turts couldn't get to. But then he was stupid enough to wander right out in front of them. An excrutiating death, I'm sure. I let them have at it then went back a while later to make sure the turts still had their eyeballs.

You also may find that the crayfish injures your turtle before the turtle gets the best of it.
