Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Post Posted: Sat Jul 30, 2005 7:44 pm   Kermie finally got a good home !

hello guys !! I finally got his tank all done and all right as far as i know.
I got a digital indoor/outdoor thermometer and put a 100 watt bulb in and got the basking temp at 89-90. I also got the uvb bulb and it gives 5 % uvb . I redid the aquarium i built a little water fall with rocks and he loves all the rocks to climb plus he got the whole other half to swim. I took pictures and i should have them back next week some time so as long as they came out you guys will get to see Kermie and his tank. I decided to that i am going to feed him in a differnt tank i was feeding him in his and it already got real cloudy so i changed the water and i am putting him in the container that they gave me for him. i have been offering romain lettuce, spinch leaves, pellets, these things called turtle bites that have alot of shell conditioners in them and the freeze dried plankton. He will not touch any of these except the plankton. i have been tryin everyday to give him a variety and he wont eat the other stuff. guess i will just keep tryin. well thanks for the help and i am sure you guys will be hearing from me alot ! Thank You everyone !

spinach is on the don't feed list.. so I'd stop offering that. I may be wrong but I think most people leave the veggies floating in the tank and feed them the pellets etc out of the tank. Mine don't eat all at once but like to nibble on the greens through out the day.

Can't wait to see your setup.. that waterfall sounds nice :)

thanks for bringing that to my attention about the spinach. i copied down from on here and the paper that the shop we got him at had and who would of guessed that the shop would have improper instructions. these people should be kicked for the way they were selling these turtles to people then not even telling them the right way to take care of them. i am glad that at least i know my kermie and my friends three are in good homes who care and not being mistreated by the shop any more. i am throwing away the info they gave me. i will stick with you guys and the vet. thanks
i do leave the greens floating in the tank and today i started putting him in a differnt container to feed him the pellets and olankton and what ever else.
he absolutly loves the tank now. his favorite spot to sleep is holding onto the heater and the rock with his head just barley out of the water it is to cute.
