that is so sad! =( Tell the teacher immediately how to take care of them. Also, tell her how the shell is pyramiding--show her pictures of what the shell SHOULD look like if you have to. It's cause from being malnurished.
You can't help the pyramiding that has already taken place, but you can prevent it from getting worse.
Also, there can be more things wrong with the turtle as a result other than the pyramiding--Metabolic Bone Disease, for example.

Actually pyramiding is caused by TOO much food. Too much protein will do that to a turtle. Please tell the teacher this site and tell him/her all the care sections on this site.

We can see the photos now. And Tenodera is right - that poor turtle's shell is quite deformed. It's caused by too much food and too much protein. This puts a terrible strain on his internal organs. This turtle really needs help right away.

There's another turtle in the foreground of the last photo with a much nicer looking shell. Is this also a turtle from the school?

When I said malnurished, it meant that it was getting all the nutrients (vitamins and such) that it needed, not that it wasn't getting enough food.

I hope your school will do the right thing for those turtles. If they don't listen, have your parents speak to the principal or other school authorities.

yes i see them now, I don't know, the turtle don't look too good to me
i never see a plastorn like that, most of the times they are FLAT,hope other member with more experience see these pics and tell you more

you're doing a great job caring for these turtles, keep doing it ,you may cause a change for good in your teacher's attitude about the turtles

im working on it but its the students that r feeding them and i cant watch them all the time. right noe i have them at my house and im refuzing to take them back till she getts better conditions for them, so far i got all the rocks out and the water but its the weekend so i have to wait till monday. o ya i still dident tell u the tank spang a leak so there at my hose and i have them in a tank i set up friday so there happy right now. monday i have to recuk it so i get to keep them for now YAY!
