Photo Gallery :: It rained! And I took my turtles out for a photo session!

I live in california and last time it rained, it was in 2006.

So long story short, the pouring rain flooded my house and it turned out to be a quite nice pond! Instead of doing the right thing and have it fixed, I decided to take my 4 turtles out for a "walk", since I've always felt no glass tank is big enough for my RES.

First pic - One of my boys FLEW into the pond when I put him down!!!





Here's the "pond" we're talking about, it's huge:

WOW!! That's awesome!! You took him for a swim!
Was the water cold? You'd have to be careful that the water wasn't dirty or polluted.

I'd love to take Roca out in the rain like that for a swim but the rain here is pretty cold sometimes.

The water was not cold at all, it's actually much warmer than our running water. The overnight pond is very clean (as far as I can tell). It rained all day yesterday and washed the ground clean but all the leafs got the drain stuck overnight and I got a clear pond in the morning! A nice surprise for the turtles! I had to run after a couple of them to get them back, they didn't want to leave!

They look like they had the time of their lives! That's funny how they would come back to you or look at you and then run off again, like kids in a playground with their dad. Nice photos!

I don't know if this was brought up before or if you were aware of it, but it looks like a few of your turtles have pyramiding.

How neat! Those lucky little turtles! They look like they're having a ball, just like wild turtles.

I hate to throw in anything negative, but it sure looks to me like some of those turtles' shells have some significant pyramiding. You might check out the diet section of this site.
