The bigger air pumps are more noisey but the Tetra Whispers seem to be the most quiet. I bought a Rena air pump and it was so dang loud I had to get a different one. I have the Tetra Whisper, I think it is for 60 gallons, whichever is the smallest one with the 2 air connectors.

LOL No daddy ...she is alone and always will be. Girl RES will become "gravid" every year once they reach maturity with or without a male turtle. Soooooo....there will be babies with a male and just little chicken looking eggs with no boys. Strange but true!

Well, I'm not really crazy about the air stone I picked up... so I guess it'll be a bit longer before I set it up.

TurtleObsession, here's a good discussion of the subject that should answer all your questions:

http://www.redearslider.com/determining_sex.html

Until turtles mature - at around 4" long - the males and females look alike. When the get to be around 4" long, males sprout very long front toenails and their tales grow longer and thicker. The will also occasionally flash. The females grow to be bigger in the long run but their front toenails stay short and their tales stay small and they never flash.
