When I'm going to get my turtle it own tank I really dont want to use a store one. He will jump off if I startle him. He isnt that big. Only 2 or 3 inches.

Any ideas?

as long as your turt can't see out, it shouldn't get too startled. I covered the plexi in my area so he couldn't see out and get scared. Here is the link to the thread.

Really, the vibrations of your actions will startle the turtle more than him seeing you. If you step heavy into the area, he'll dart off from the heavy step.

Good for you trying to building your own basking area. If you make it a little too big, it will last him longer.
