That sounds like fighting too me.

Alright so I went and bought a 110 gallon stock tank yesterday and I'm trying to separate it in 2 with the eggcrate but who knew that after I fill it up the sides would expand and the eggcrate would be too small.

Can anyone tell me how to get the suction cups to stay on the side of the stock tank?

CONGRATS!! on a 110 gallon tank (*tank envy*). Your turtles are very pleased with you and would tell you if they could. :)

Is a stock tank made out of plastic? If it is use ties on the top and you could keep the bottom from moving with two rocks or anything that can "wedge" it so the turtles can't move it.

Two heaters on either side would keep it on the bottom.

Post a pic if you can and I will see if there is anything else I think of.

I'll see if I can take a pic of mine to show you what I did.

Here are some pics.

I blocked one side with the heater and the other direction is hooked/ wedged into the sunction cup.

Thanks for the pictures. unfortunately I had to take down the stock tank and put the old tiny tank back up for now, I did however put a piece of eggcrate down the middle to separate them.

Yes, stock tanks are the big plastic one. It only cost me $60.

I'm going to try and build a cabinet for it and then have it up and running.

Pics ASAP

That looks great. You can fix it up to be quite attractive and the turtles will love it. Even with the support you'd probably better check regularly to be sure it doesn't leak.

Well,I have this same EXACT problem.I don't know what to do either. But a few weeks ago I noticed that the bigger one's last 2 claws or toenails or whatever were missing.I hadn't noticed this before until now.I don't know if he/she was like this before or not.I don't think he's in pain, because he always seems happy.Always eating missing, swimming, and basking normally.Where they're missing doesn't look irritated or anything, but I don't know. What do y'all think? :?

I agree that minor aggression may indicate future trouble, however, I have seen it where this indicates the dominant turtle's authority. My female RES "nipped" at her new roomate, a much younger male, when he first arrived. She would often alternate this with the front paw flutter. Now they have been courting and follow each other around the tank. In fact, they take turns basking on the floating rock. I haven't seen any biting or other signs of aggression since the first few weeks and they have been together for about six months.

I wish you only the best of luck. I have read several posts of owners not separating their turtles with disasterous results.
Chimpy took three nails from Chompy before I separated them.

Keep a sharp eye out for further aggression. Have a nice holiday.
