Hi I just got a new larger tank for my two turtles about two weeks ago and put it in my room. Now, every morning at about 8am one of my turtles start to splash like there's no tomorrow and it keeps waking me up! I don't know what to do... i tried feeding it but that didn't work and i even got some fishes to maybe keep it occupied. I need any suggestions, please help!

How old are your turtles? Is the one that is splashing a female? It could be she is gravid and wants to lay eggs. Turtles needing to lay eggs will get restless.

One is a boy but the one that is splahing im not really sure yet and their both about 2 1/2 years old so i dont think its old enough to lay eggs yet

yeah its not old enouph to lay eggs yet if its only 2 1/2 years old. what is the temp of your water and how big is the tank?

What time do you turn their lights on/off every day? Maybe you can help them to establish a sleep cycle closer to yours.

the water temps about 82 and i turn the lights on at about 8 and shut them off about 9 and its a 36 gal tank

the tank mite be too small and not giving them enouph space and she prob wants out or something. That temp is around the same as mine and my turtles never splash unless im about to give them food.

Maybe you should put them in the bath tub with shallow water for a hour a day that way she can walk around and stuff..

I really would have no idea why a young turtle unable to produce eggs would be splashing all over..

I used to keep my turtles in the same room where I slept. Every morning at sunrise they'd start splashing. I'd wake to water in the face. I assume it's because they're always fed in the morning when the lamp gets turned on. They associate daylight with food = turn into little beggars.

When my female RES was gravid, she'd always want to get out of the tank in the morning. I wouldn't rule it out just yet.

My female RES (about 8 inches) splashes a lot when she is gravid. Once that is over she calms down quite a bit. Now she just swims and "paddles" furiously without too much splashing to get my attention when she is hungry. In fact, the younger male has been copying her doing the same behavior. I try to feed them about the same time every day in the late afternoon/early evening. However, they have been seeking attention/food everytime someone comes near them. We don't feed them everytime though. Right now if I turn towards her she starts her routine but if I avoid her she will just swim normally, float around, or occasionally scour the bottom of the tank.
